The Parents
We currently have 11 adult Sheba Mini Yaks (7 females and 1 male) here at Guinea Pigs Oxford. Having this number allows us to give plenty of care and attention to each individual and also allows us to closely monitor pregnant females and their young.
So what are Sheba Mini Yaks? Sheba Mini Yaks originated in Australia and are a cross between 'old style' Peruvian and Abyssinian breeds. The resulting breed (although not officially recognised) is referred to as the Sheba Mini Yak guinea pig. As can be seen below they have a scruffy medium length coat that reaches no longer than floor level. Due to the length of this they, unlike longer haired breeds do not require frequent grooming. Sheba Mini Yaks are also well known for their lively, cheerful attitudes and individual personalities.
